Quackzar VR was my first attempt at creating a larger and more ambitious animated project in Quill after a series of smaller experiments with VR animation workflows.
The inspiration came from the artwork featured in the calendars by Kurzgesagt. One particular illustration of a massive, vibrant quasar sparked the idea for building an epic sci-fi scene around it, combined with a small narrative and cinematic presentation.
The entire project was created and animated inside Quill VR using a mix of frame-by-frame animation and keyframe animation techniques. One of the most exciting aspects of working in VR was the ability to approach every shot like a real cinematographer - planning camera movement, composition, and staging directly inside the scene in full scale.
The final compositing and editing were completed in DaVinci Resolve. The project became both a technical and creative exploration of VR-native animation workflows and cinematic storytelling.
